CLINTON, Iowa — Edna M. Willhite, 86, Clinton, Iowa, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 in Eagle Point Nursing Home, Clinton. She was born Sept. 29, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Fred W. and Clara Nancy (Boucher) Meyer. She married the Rev. E. Leon Willhite May 10, 1942 in Polo, Ill. He survives. She graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, Ill. in 1938. She received her teaching certificate from Indiana Central College, now the University of Indianapolis. She taught school for two years in Polo, Ill. until her marriage. She was “Queen of the Parsonage” in churches in Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Iowa as she and her husband served congregations in these locations. She was a member of the Community Congregational UCC where she participated in the on going life of the church including the Church Women United and the Iowa Conference UUC. Survivors, besides the husband, include: two sons, Thomas R. (Carol) Willhite, Pittsburgh, Pa. and Duane A. (Tina) Willhite, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Robert, Gail, Maria and Kelsey; five great-grandchildren, Bethany, Axel, Zachery, Courtney and Ryan; and two sisters, Marian (Anders) Anderson, Brandenton, Fla. and Ruth Parker, Carbondale, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Scott; and a sister, Margaret Griggs. Memorial services were Friday in the Community Congregational United Church of Christ, Clinton, with the Rev. Dan Schadt officiating. Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Willhite Cemetery, Wingate, with the Rev. Christopher Lawler officiating. The Waynetown Christian Church provided a luncheon following the service. Pape Funeral Home, Clinton, was in charge of arrangements. Family and Friends Funeral Home, Wingate, assisted with local arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Community Congregational Church, Clinton. – jlr
